Waterbirth

Using a nice large tub of warm water during labor and birth can be a wonderful option at a homebirth. Many women are drawn to water. Personally, I love baths and I love to float. Water can ease preterm and early labor allowing the laboring woman to rest. Water reserves a woman's energy; neither she nor her labor companions have to support her weight. Squatting, which opens the pelvis and is excellent for birthing, becomes effortless. Contractions often become stronger and more efficient in the water while at the same time warm water relieves pain and promotes deep relaxation.

Tub set up, and maintenance while it is full, are easier than one would imagine. Homebirthers are usually pleasantly surprised that clean-up after a waterbirth is actually easier!

In an effort to simplify the waterbirth experience, I provide waterbirth tub and waterbirth supply rental and sales. You also have the option of renting or buying the tub and required supplies on your own, which will be less expensive then having me provide them but will require some effort on your part. Here is my do-it-yourself guide to renting or buying a tub and gathering the necessary supplies for a waterbirth.
