Menopause

Much attention has been paid to menopause recently, both in scientific study and in the popular press. Simple, one-size-fits-all hormone replacement therapy is giving way to women finding their own paths. Women's different bodies and different lives and different priorities lead them to different decisions. The artificial hormones touted just a couple years ago as a pancea have now been shown to increase the very ailments and diseases they were once thought to avoid. This is not to say that these hormones are all bad, they can be a blessing to some women in relieving some of the extreme manifestations of menopause.

And what about those years before menopause? Peri-menopause is often characterized by changes in menstration, mood and hormones.

I think the most exciting thing about women during "the change" is to watch them change from within. Their priorities and personalites shift. Many women gain access to new personal power, many focus inward rather than outwardly on pleasing others.

I enjoy working with women who are peri-menopausal and post-menopausal. I offer an interested ear and perspectives on both medical and natural remedies. I listen to women's true experience and start from their own goals.
